Contemporary hotel opens in heart of Palma
The Balearics capital of Palma de Mallorca has welcomed a new four-star hotel to its portfolio.
The Ca N’Alexandre-Turismo De Interior Hotel Palma de Mallorca opened its doors in Plaza Alexandre Jaume, a prime location in Palma’s picturesque Old Town district 15 minutes’ walk from Palma Cathedral.
Located in a beautiful 20th century historical building that was once the home of Alexandre Jaume – a famous Mallorcan politician who was shot during the Spanish civil war, the hotel is today being run by his great-granddaughters, keeping up the family name.
The renovated building has preserved the original Mallorcan architectural features of the property including the ‘mares’ (local sandstone brick) and wooden beams dating back to the 20th century. The interiors have also been fitted with special handcrafted hydraulic tiles designed exclusively for the hotel.
One of the most distinguished features is the Arabic ‘aljibe’, (water cistern), that was uncovered during building works and has been converted into a meeting space for private events.
The property features 23 modern rooms, stylishly decorated with traditional influences with bespoke fabrics, lampshades and furniture pieces. Each room boasts stunning views of the garden below or city.
The hotel has a restaurant on site serving local specialities made with fresh ingredients sourced from the island, a bar serving refreshing cocktails, and a sun terrace with panoramic views of the city where guests can relax after a long day of sightseeing.
