Celebrity motorcyclist Charley Boorman is heading out across the USA on his latest adventure, which tourism organisations, including Brand USA, are hoping will help boost visitor numbers to the country.

Following the success of his two previous series in Canada and South Africa, Boorman is once again teaming with friend and director Russ Malkin. The pair and crew began their epic expedition in Hawaii, before travelling over 5,000 miles across the United States, to showcase all the adventures the USA has to offer. The TV series will be aired on the UK’s Channel 5, starting on 21 November.

The duo’s adventures stretch from the southernmost state to the northern state of Alaska, where Boorman recreates a boyhood dream to build his own quinzee (snow cave) where he must spend the night. Riding out with EagleRider his adventure then continues down the eastern seaboard of the USA, where he gets to grips with a 100-year-old schooner, during a storm. Exploring the wilderness of the USA, the duo tackle a number of extreme adventures as they journey from New England down through the Carolinas hitting a freak wave in ‘the graveyard of the Atlantic’ and onwards to Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas before hitting a fierce lightning storm in New Mexico.

The intrepid adventurers then make their way up through Colorado, Wyoming and into Utah, where Boorman enjoys one of his most exciting adventures – racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The team ride on swapping their motorbikes for land yachts in the Nevada desert and hit torrential rain in Death Valley. Re-creating some of the moments from the legendary film Easy Rider, Boorman finishes his USA adventure at the Pacific coast where he is joined by a large motorcycle convoy that ride alongside him to his final destination, Los Angeles, California.

Boorman said: “The USA is one of the most well-known countries in the world but we felt there was so much more to still be discovered. It was fantastic to take a trip down memory lane and re-visit the place where my dad’s film Deliverance was made (and to meet the famous banjo player!).

“I have been lucky enough to experience some of the most exhilarating adventures I’ve ever been on in the USA and this series has certainly pushed me to the limit. People always talk about how amazing Southern hospitality is and they’re not wrong, we met some fascinating people on this journey with such interesting stories.”

Russ Malkin added: “I was surprised at how much there was to discover outside of all the big well known attractions. We really found ourselves well outside of our comfort zone here; there really are so many great adventures on offer in the USA!”

It’s hoped that Boorman’s engaging personality and ability to connect with the viewers, alongside exceptional HD cinematography captures his adventure, will offer a fresh and positive insight into the USA.
