Florida-based Orange Lake Resorts hosted a rock star-studded event for its sales staff and helped contribute to an 87-year-old tradition at The Palm Restaurant in Orlando at the same time.
The RCI-affiliated resort, which is also home to the Holiday Inn Club Vacations brand, brought the faces of rock legends from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the present day to the walls of The Palm Restaurant in Orlando, Fla. The tradition of caricatures began at The Palm’s founding restaurant in New York City in 1926 and continues at their 28 locations in the United States, Mexico City and London.
Famous faces – including David Jenkins of Pablo Cruise, John Cafferty of the Beaver Brown Band, Taylor Dayne, Ed Kowalczyk of Live, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Bret Michaels of Poison – joined Orange Lake’s top sales and marketing executives for a private party at The Palm Restaurant where they unveiled caricatures of each star.
The entertainers then performed live for more than 1,000 employees and guests at the company’s annual sales and marketing celebration, known as the SAMMYS, which took place at Hard Rock LIVE on 7 March.
John Sutherland, Orange Lake Resorts’ executive vice president of sales and marketing, heads up the annual event to honor his teams from Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg and Las Vegas. Together, they celebrate their success in fuelling the company’s growth which now boasts 10 resorts and more than 170,000 owners.
Sutherland said: “The management team at The Palm Restaurant knows how to do hospitality. We’re excited to have hosted our annual private party for the fifth year at The Palm. The restaurant is also host to many of our quarterly dinners and some of our company’s own famous faces have adorned their walls.
“The Palm’s proximity to Hard Rock LIVE has created the perfect fit for hosting our annual SAMMYS event. And, with the help of the Entertainment Group at Hard Rock LIVE, the talent we secured this year and production services provided are top-notch in this market.
“There’s no better way to show our teams that the hard work they do is important, noticed and appreciated than by celebrating our top performers at The Palm and topping it off with a party at Hard Rock LIVE in their honor.”
