Egypt1 Over one million Brits visited Egypt in 2011The Egypt Tourism Authority has announced that 1,034,413 British holidaymakers visited Egypt in 2011, making the UK the second most popular tourist nationality to the home of the ancient Pharaohs, topped only by Russia – with Germany coming third.

It has also been revealed that the average UK holidaymaker spends 11.45 nights per annum in Egypt, a country that is well known for its history, excellent climate and hospitality as well as offering value for money.

The statistics show that Egypt continues to be an important and very popular tourist destination for British holidaymakers. With year-round sunshine, two stunning coastlines and desert beauty, a broad cultural spectrum with relics of history that date back thousands of years, the signs are that visitor numbers will continue to grow in 2012.

Indeed, many tour operators have increased their capacity and national airline Egyptair has expanded its flight offer in preparation.
