KETTERING, NORTHANTS (September 3, 2010) – RCI, the global leader in vacation exchange and one of the Wyndham Worldwide family of brands (NYSE: WYN), announced today that it will serve as Platinum Sponsor of the Resort Development Organisation’s first European timeshare conference, RDO1.

The event will take place at the Don Carlos Leisure Resort & Spa in Marbella, Spain, from October 4-6, 2010, and promises to be a uniquely interactive and insightful symposium. It will comprise a series of sessions featuring panels of industry experts talking about timeshare’s biggest issues, challenges and opportunities.

“We are delighted to welcome RCI as Platinum Sponsor of RDO1. RDO – formerly known as the Organisation for Timeshare Europe (OTE) – has benefited from the support of RCI since OTE was launched almost 13 years ago,” said Richard McIntosh, RDO Chairman.

“That support has been given in many different ways, from RCI’s presence on many of our committees and working groups to sponsorship of our events and associated web sites. We value this collaboration as we look for opportunities to strengthen the timeshare industry in today’s challenging market.”

The conference format has been designed to involve the audience in informal discussions, giving them the opportunity to shape the debate and share experiences. Former chief executive of the British Hospitality Association Bob Cotton OBE has been confirmed as guest speaker at RDO1, demonstrating the common ground between the hospitality and shared vacation ownership sectors. Cotton has 40 years of experience in the hospitality sector to draw on during his session.

Session topics to be discussed include how to ensure success and the best investments in technology, how to avoid common pitfalls in the start-up evaluation process, how to leave your ‘corporate’ attitude at the door and how to make the most of the social media world.

RCI is participating on several industry panels. Gregg Anderson, global vice president, The Registry Collection® program, will be talking about the latest ‘Fractional Structures.’ Henry Bankes, vice president of Legal Affairs, Wyndham Exchange & Rentals, will be sharing invaluable insight on ‘Adopting the Timeshare Directive,’ which will be implemented across Europe next year and is set to impact everyone in the shared-vacation ownership industry. And Geoff Ballotti, CEO, RCI, will participate in the discussion panel titled ‘Where is the next pot of gold?’ which will explore opportunities in new markets for shared ownership models around the world.

“The RDO1 Conference offers everyone in shared ownership a chance to create a bright and dynamic future,” said Dimitris Manikis, vice president of Business Development for RCI Europe and an RDO Committee member. “We’re hoping for some spirited and positive debate on the wide-ranging issues that we, collectively, as an industry face. RCI is delighted to be a Platinum Sponsor of this major European industry event, and I’m looking forward to attending and working with our affiliates and timeshare newcomers to explore the opportunities to expand our market share in the mainstream hospitality industry.”

Members of RCI’s Business Development team and senior executives attending RDO1 will be available to talk with delegates on a one-to-one basis about any aspects of entering or operating in the shared-vacation ownership marketplace.
