Destination club drives golf celebrity tie-in
The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club has announced a partnership with Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sörenstam which will see her act as ambassador for the luxury brand.
As part of the exclusive partnership with Sörenstam, The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club will create an 'ANNIKA sense of place' at its resorts featuring the golfer's branded products, which include signature clothing, fragrances, wines and autographed photography.
Peter J Watzka, executive vice president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Development Company, explained: “We are thrilled to have Annika Sörenstam represent The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club.
“This partnership is an excellent opportunity for The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club to work with one of the world’s top golfers and offer our discerning members extraordinary experiences they will not find anywhere else.”
The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club is an equity-based, luxury destination club based on two product offerings. Home Club Memberships provide titled residence of up to four bedrooms and guaranteed usage at the client's favourite resort each year, and deeded Portfolio Membership entitles the customer to discover a wide variety of locations, accommodation and experiences around the globe through the use of Club points. Typical membership costs approximately $250,000, and gives access to 10 Club locations and more than 70 Ritz-Carlton hotels and resorts worldwide.
Sörenstam is one of the most successful female golfers of all time, with more than 70 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) titles to her name, including 10 majors. The Swedish professional also tops the LPGA's money list with career earnings of over $22 million, and made history in 2003 when she was the first woman to take part in a men's PGA Tour event in almost 60 years.
“I am honoured to represent The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club brand,” she said. “There is a lot of symmetry between the lifestyle The Ritz-Carlton affords their members and the products and services my brand represents.”

Many of the destination clubs have partnered with famous athletes. The Hideaways Club has Tim Henman, Ultimate Escapes has Steve Young and coach Doc Rivers as members, Equity Estates recently added a former major league baseball pitcher as part of their investor relations team.
